AIADMK Parliamentary Board Slows Down To Decide on RK Nagar By-Election Candidate
RK Nagar By-Election Candidate Selection Delayed: Election Commission of India (ECI) announced that By-election in Tamil Nadu’s RK Nagar will be held on December 21 and counting of the vote will be held on December 24.
The meeting of AIADMK parliamentary board scheduled for Wednesday to choose the party candidate for RK Nagar by-election has been postponed without any reason. At least 19 have shown their willingness to enter the conflict, many of whom are seasoned party hands. The main reason for the delay in choosing the candidate is the speculation over the difference of opinion within the party about a candidate.
Contrary to the earlier opinion, AIADMK praesidium chairman E Madhusudhanan was a single choice, now many have requested that they are fielded.
AIADMK parliamentary board said Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami, Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam and all members of the party would be in Thanjavur on Wednesday to attend the MGR centenary celebrations, which was why the meeting was delayed.

The members in AIADMK asked applications from candidates to contest this by-election. Usually, the parliamentary board headed by the party general secretary would assemble the meeting, choose a candidate and make the announcement. But this time, all the members of the party are going by the rules.
The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam has won seven out of 11 times in the constituency in the last 40 years. But this time, two faces of AIADMK are in the fray for the position.
On one side T.T.V. Dhinakaran from Sasikala faction will be fighting and on the other E. Madhusudhanan from the EPS-OPS faction will be standing for polls.
Jayalalithaa’s niece J. Deepa is also contesting the bypoll as an independent in the RK Nagar By-election.
