Gopi Nainar is an Indian film director and scriptwriter, who works in Kollywood industry. He is popularly known as Minjur Gopi and made his directorial debut with the lady superstar Nayantara‘s ‘Aramm‘. He also got appreciation words from critics reviews and fans. Gopi had earlier gathered media attention during the release of AR Murugadoss’s Kaththi in 2014, where he claimed that his story had been stolen. The movie highlights the issue of water scarcity and its adverse effects. Gopi Nainar Profile and Career

Gopi Nainar was born and brought up in Chennai. He has worked an assistant director with a few popular directors. He joins the list of first-rate debutant directors we have got this year. His personal details are not known as he is new to the film industry.

He was shot to fame after complaining that the movie “Kaththi” is his story and it is stolen by Director AR Murugadoss. When asked about this to Murugadoss, he said that he didn’t know Gopi at all. Minjur Gopi also filed a case against Murugadoss for story stealing. But, he withdrew the case, after some time. He also filed a case against Murugadoss for verbally abusing him with reference to his caste.

As he wanted to get a strong identity as the director, Gopi scripted a film about water scarcity and started designing the film as a woman-centric. To play the strong female lead role, he approached Lady Superstar “Nayantara,” who permitted him to narrate the story. After hearing the narration, Nayantara is quite impressed with the script and had given her dates for the film.

Aramm is the Tamil Movie which portrays the real-life incident of the village. The movie attracts audiences with its interesting story and the social message. He is also a familiar face in TV shows, in which he talks about issues faces by the poor in the country. He was heavily inspired by the legendary Tamil director J. Mahendran who took iconic films like Nandu, Uthiripookal (1979), Johnny (1980) and Mullum Malarum (1978).
