Actor Vijay Visited the Sterlite Protests Victims family in Thoothukudi

Vijay Visits Thoothukudi: Kollywood Star Vijay visited Sterlite plant protest victims’ families in Thoothukudi last night on June 5. He had silently met families of the victims who passed away of Thoothukudi-Sterlite violence. Vijay visited the houses of Bhaskar, Thangaiah, Dheena Karthik, Snolin, Antony Selvaraj, Cliston, Jansi, Kaliappan and Thalamuthu. He went to residences of those who lost their lives and spent time with their families. Apparently, Vijay travelled on a bike to some of the places where the streets were narrow. According to reports, Vijay handed over a solatium of Rs 1 lakh to the families.

At least 13 persons were killed after police opened fire at the anti-Sterlite protesters. Dozens were injured in the incident. The incident caused widespread outrage in the state leading to the state government’s order to close the Sterlite copper plant.
Earlier, Politician Rajinikanth announced that he will be donating Rs 2 lakhs to the families who lost their kins in the protest. Another actor turned politician and founder of the Party Makkal Needhi Maiam Kamal Hassan had released a statement which attacked the Sterlite Industry which violated the regulatory norms that caused the loss of lives of innocent people.
