New Movies on OTT: During the lockdown, the entertainment industry has hit hard as all the theatres, movie shootings, concerts, promotional events and interviews are stalled due to coronavirus spreading. So people who are locked in the home are finding ways to watch movies and series through OTT’s. In India, OTT (video streaming platforms) such as Netflix India, Amazon Prime Video India, Hotstar, ZEE5, ALT Balaji, and Hungama Play are the major entertainment source for movie lovers. A series of new movies are planned to release on OTT platforms.

Producers have been severely hit as their films have been postponed. But, the digital OTT platforms will help them during these hard times. While reports suggest that theatres might be shut for a long period, many Indian movies are planned to release on the OTT platforms. Some of the big-budget movies and top star films are been sold to OTT’s for a huge price. As per latest reports, some of the movies are expected to be streamed directly on OTT.

Ponmagal Vanthal – Amazon Prime Video

Ponmagal Vanthal is a Tamil movie starring Jyothika, Parthipan, K. Bhagyaraj and Pratap Pothen in the lead roles. The film was directed by JJ Federic. R and music by Govind Vasanth. Owing to coronavirus, the makers of Ponmagal Vanthal movie decided to release the movie directly on OTT platform. The streaming rights of the court drama was acquired by Amazon Prime Video. Laxmmi Bomb – Disney+Hotstar

Laxmmi Bomb is a comedy horror film written and directed by Raghava Lawrence. It is an official remake of the blockbuster Tamil film Muni 2: Kanchana. Laxmmi Bomb Hindi movie stars Akshay Kumar and Kiara Advani in the lead role. Initially, the film is supposed to release theatrically on 22 May 2020. But, the latest buzz is that Akshay Kumar’s Laxmmi Bomb will directly release on OTT platform. The online digital rights of the horror drama were acquired by Disney+Hotstar.

Soorarai Pottru – Amazon Prime Video

According to the latest buzz, Suriya starrer Soorarai Pottru might also release directly on the OTT platform. Directed by Sudha Kongara of Irudhi Suttru fame, the film also stars Aparna Balamurali, Mohan Babu, Jackie Shroff, and Paresh Rawal in the prominent roles. Based on the life of Air Deccan founder, GR Gopinath, the film is produced by 2D Entertainment and Shikya Entertainment. The film has GV Prakash’s music.

The makers haven’t released an official statement yet.

Server Sundaram

Server Sundaram the long-delayed movie that features Santhanam and Vaibhavi Shandilya in the lead roles. The action comedy film was written and directed by Anand Balki, and produced by J. Selvakumar. After Ponmagal Vanthal, the makers of Server Sundaram also decided to release the movie on OTT platform.

The makers haven’t released an official statement yet regarding the release.

Andhaghaaram

Andhaghaaram is a new Tamil movie starring Arjun Das of Kaithi fame, Vinoth Kumar, Pooja Ramachandran, and Misha Ghoshal in the lead role. Directed by V Vignarajan, the film was presented by director Atlee under his A for Apple production. Recently, Andhaghaaram film was lauded by the Master director Lokesh Kanagaraj saying “Had the privilege of watching Andhaghaaram movie..haven’t come across such a brilliant film recently!”. Reports suggest that the new Andhaghaaram movie full will be released directly on the OTT platform Amazon Prime Video.
