Finally, Reliance Jio has announced its much-awaited FTTH (Fiber to the home) services, named Jio GigaFiber. It is Reliance Jio’s own FTTH broadband solution that offers internet speed up to 1Gbps. From August 15, Reliance’s JioGigafiber will be available in 1,100 cities across the country. With GigaFiber, Reliance Jio will become the biggest greenfield fixed-line broadband around the world.

What is JioGigaFiber?

JioGigaFiber is a fibre-based broadband solution which offers fixed-line internet services with the internet speeds up to 1Gbps. It is an optical fibre based broadband solution to offer superior speeds over wired internet connections. It will offer smart home solutions like real-time surveillance and security solutions for homes and enterprises.

Features and uses of Reliance JioGigaFiber

Reliance JioGigaFiber is a high speed fixed broadband service which puts your home or office in a digital fast-track. Here are the some of the features of Reliance Jio GigaFiber

  • Some of the current service providers offer either too slow data speed at expensive rates, which is not affordable for masses. Reliance Jio GigaFiber aims to overcome this barrier with the better internet at affordable prices.
  • Once the home gets ultra high-speed data connectivity through Jio GigaFiber, Jio will convert those houses into smart homes.
  • Smart home appliances like switches, lights, AC, TV, refrigerators and much more can be connected to the home broadband and you can control those appliances by using your smartphone.
  • If a home is connected to Jio GigaFiber, they do not require any other DTH or cable TV services.
  • The set-top boxes from Reliance Jio will offer all TV programs and channels with the high-speed GigaFiber broadband.
  • Making telephone calls and video calls is possible with Jio GigaFiber by using the smart TV. By using your smart TV, you can make a video call to your friends, relatives, or anyone in the world.

When and Where it will be available?

Reliance JioGigaFiber broadband service will be launched on 15th August and the services will be rolled out in 1100 cities simultaneously. The price and data plans are not yet disclosed. The registration for GigaFiber will be open from August 15 and you can register yourself through either My Jio app or through Jio Website. While launching the service, the chairman of RIL (Reliance Industries Limited) Mukesh Ambani, has said that the areas which has the maximum registrations will get priority in terms of service availability.
