Dr Beela Rajesh IAS serves as the secretary to Government at Department of Health and Family Welfare (Tamil Nadu) since February 2019. She came to limelight during coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic in the state. She tirelessly works for 18 hours a day during the COVID-19 spread and is making efforts to control it.

Beela Rajesh is a qualified doctor who completed her MBBS from Madras Medical College (MMC). She then attended Civil service examinations and qualified for the Indian Administrative Service in 1997.

• Before getting a posting in Tamil Nadu, Beela has served in Bihar and Jharkhand.
