Two-hour Time Slot for Bursting Crackers during Deepavali | Supreme Court order
Following the Supreme Court’s order, Tamil Nadu government announces two-hour time slot for bursting crackers. TN officials had fixed 6am to 7am and 7pm to 8pm for lightning the crackers during Deepavali. The severe action will be taken who are violating the SC order. The case will be filed under Sections 291(Continuance of nuisance after injunction to discontinue), and 188 (Disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant), 268 (public nuisance) of the IPC.
In Villupuram district, 80 people were booked for bursting crackers. Virudhunagar police have arrested 40 persons for violating the court order. More than 30 persons were booked in Coimbatore and 20 in Dindigul whereas Erode, Nagercoil districts saw some case each being registered for not complying with the order.
The Uttar Pradesh government has allowed only ‘eco-friendly’ crackers to be burst from 8 pm for two hours on Diwali.
