Vetrimaaran is an Indian Film Director, Screen Writer, and a Film Producer who works mainly in the Tamil Film Industry. As of 2016, Vetrimaaran has won 4 National awards and one film fare award. He made his directional debut through the movie “Polladhavan” which was critically acclaimed. Vetrimaaran Details

Vetrimaran was born at Cuddalore and then moved to Ranipet. He was born on 4 September 1975 to V. Chitravel who is a Veterinary Doctor and Megala who is a noted novelist. He studied at Ranipet until his 10th grade. He then moved to Loyola College in Chennai to pursue a graduation in the field of English Literature in the year 1994. Vetrimaran discontinued his Master’s degree to pursue his career in the field of filmmaking.

Initially, Vetrimaran worked as an assistant to director Balu Mahendra. Vetrimaran used to read 40 to 50 novels a week and help Balu Mahendra to choose few interesting scenes. After working hard, he was able to narrate a story to Dhanush and he named the story as Desiya Nedunchaalai 47 but there were plenty of issues going on in this movie. Later they chose the movie “Polladavan” which was a commercial hit and was able to collect more than Vijay’s Alagiya Thamizh Magan and Suriya’s Vel.

Apart from being a successful film writer and director, he is also a successful producer. The movies he has produced has won many awards. His second movie “Aadukalam” was a masterpiece and he won his first national award for this movie. His third movie as a director was “Visaaranai” which has won many awards and it is also nominated for the academy awards as well. Vetrimaran has again joined hand with Dhanush to make a film named “Vada Chennai“. The movie is in progress.
