First, he started his career as an actor by starring in the No Smoking movie in 2007 and also acted in movies like Aamir (2008) and the Ugly (2013) before stepping into direction. His first film as a director was Peddlers (2012), and he was nominated for a Golden Camera Award at the Cannes Film Festival for this movie. Recently, he has joined hands with Alia Bhatt for the next movie, Jigra (2024).
