The Do’s and Don’ts While Preparing for GATE Exam

Every year a plethora of students used to appear for the GATE exam because this exam embraces them with a chunk of opportunities and also helps them to make a scintillating career. Do’s While Preparing for GATE Exam

  1. Carefully choose the subjects: There are nearly 23 subjects are enlisted in GATE. So, as per your skill, knowledge, and proficiency choose the subjects which will help you to score good marks in the exam. If you want to score well, hand-picked your subjects wisely.
  2. Study thoroughly: The aspirants who have in-depth or a comprehensive knowledge of their subjects can easily crack this exam, on the other hand, those who study superficially will find difficulties in cracking this exam. So, try to understand the underlying concepts of each subject else what you have studied is in vain. Make a separate note for all the imperative formulae, equations, and other numerical problems so that in the future, you don’t need to open your textbooks repeatedly.
  3. Revise your subjects properly: Revision plays an imperative role in your GATE preparation. Do you want to pass this exam contently? Then, keep the last two months for the revision of all subjects. Revise all topics separately so that you can grasp them in a better way.
  4. Practice and mock tests: the more you practice, it will uplift your score in the exam. Try to appear for mock tests that are specially designed for the GATE exam. These mock tests will help you with self-analysis and also will give you an idea about the exam pattern. There are many GATE coaching in Kochi who offer mock tests to the candidates so that they can evaluate their skills and ability. Always to enroll yourself with any of these institutes for a better result. Rigorous practicing also reduces your silly mistakes and improves your accuracy.
  5. Make a timetable: Proper time management is also important if you want to score well. So, make a time table for everything right from lessons, revisions, test series, etc. and follow it strictly.
  6. Stay focused: You are aware of your goals and objectives, so try to be focused. For a better result, learn from your past mistakes.
  7. Do some exercises: Exercises and yoga will boost your memory. So go for light exercises which will keep you both mentally and physically strong.

Don’ts While Preparing for GATE Exam

  1. Don’t keep your focus only on theory or on problem-solving. To score well, you need to learn both.
  2. Don’t get disheartened or depressed if you don’t score well in the mock tests or other preparation tests. Just keep practicing.
  3. Don’t just cram the formulae or equation. Try to understand the concept behind all. Because most of the time it has been found that the questions in this exam often require to use the concepts in a twisted way rather than just putting the direct formulae to solve it.
  4. Don’t waste your time watching TV, movies, or games, rather utilize this time by studying. If you are exhausted then go for some exercises like yoga, walking, cycling, etc.
  5. Don’t try to follow too many books for a particular subject. Because this will create simply confusion. Use 1-2 books for every subject.
  6. Don’t get bothered too much by how your friends are preparing themselves for the exam. Because everyone is unique and thus, they make their own strategies for preparation.
  7. If you are not confident regarding your answer to a question, don’t attempt it. Because GATE has negative marking, so leave it and try the next one.
  8. Don’t lose your focus at any cost if you want to score an astounding result in this exam.
