Akshay Kumar’s The Great Indian Rescue is all set to be released in the second half of 2023. Parineeti Chopra plays the female lead, and this is the reunion of Akshay and Parineeti after the 2019 film Kesari. The film is bankrolled by Pooja Entertainment and directed by Tinu Suresh Desai. In fact, this is the second time collaboration of director Tinu and Akshay Kumar after Rustom, a 2016 movie.

This is almost a kind of biopic. The film is based on true events that revolve around the life of mining engineer Jaswant Singh Gill, who saved 64 mining workers from a flooded tunnel in West Bengal in 1989. Jaswant Gill is a resident of Amritsar. Gill received several awards and recognition for his timely action and bravery. The gentleman died in 2019 at the age of 80. So the title of the film is perfect, right? The Great Indian Rescue.
