National Technology Day 2020: Since 1999, May 11 of every year is celebrated as National Technology Day in India to honor the technological advancements in India. The reason behind the celebration of National Technology Day is that, on May 11, 1988, India successfully tested its nuclear bombs in Pohran, Rajasthan to exhibit its defensive skills. While it was India’s second nuclear test, the Shakti-I nuclear missile was tested at the India Army’s Pokhran Test Range, and the operation was led by an aerospace engineer as well as late President Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. Two days later, India successfully tested two more nuclear weapons which were part of Pokhran-II/Operation Shakti initiative. Following this, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the former Prime Minister of India, declared the country, a nuclear state to join the “nuclear club” of nations.
