Microsoft Co-Founder, Seahawks Owner Paul Allen Dies at 65
Paul Allen, the co-founder of Microsoft and owner of the Portland Trail Blazers and Seattle Seahawks, died from complications of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma on Monday. In a statement, Allen’s Company Vulcan Inc has stated that he died on Monday and cancer that he was treated for in 2009, had returned.
Paul Allen and Bill Gates have founded Microsoft Corporation in the year 1975. Microsoft’s big break came in the year 1980, when IBM (International Business Machines) Corporation has decided to move into personal computers. IBM asked Microsoft to provide the operating system. The decision pushed Microsoft onto the throne of technology and the two Seattle-natives became billionaires. Both later committed themselves to philanthropy. Over the years, Paul Allen gave more than $2 billion to a wide range of interests, including ocean health, homelessness, advancing scientific research and more.
