Hardik Patel is an Indian politician and the member of Indian National Congress party. He is well-known for participating and leading the Patidar reservation agitation. While pursuing his graduation, he started his political career by joining in the Sardar Patel Group (SPG) Patidar youth body. Within a month of joining the party, he became the president of its Viramgam unit. On 12 March 2019, he joined as member of Indian National Congress.

• After his graduation, he joined in his family business water supply in commercial sector.
• In 2015, Hardik Patel moved away from Sardar Patel Group (SPG) after a conflict with its leader, Lalji Patel.
• He started Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti (PAAS), which claim itself as an apolitical organization to get Patidars included in the OBC quota.
• For the PAAS, he organized and led a rally on 25th August 2015 at GMDC ground, Ahmedabad, where all the Patidars from all over Gujarat gathered together to get the OBC quota for Patidars.

• On 14th July 2016, he released on bail from from the Lajpore jail in Surat after 9 months for the cases of sedition and violence during the Patidar quota movement in 2015.
