Forbes List: Virat Kohli Overtakes Lionel Messi on Forbes List by $1 million of Most Valuable Brands

On Wednesday, Forbes released the list of most valuable sportspersons, Indian Cricket team captain Virat Kohli has been ranked seventh among the athletes on Forbes list of world’s most valuable sports brands, with a brand value of $14.5 million. His brands have surpassed that of Barcelona’s Lionel Messi who brand with the value of $13.5 million and NBA champion Stephen Curry brand with $13.4 million. The brand value is an athlete’s earnings which excludes salary and bonus from their sport and all investment income, minus the average income of the top 10 athletes in the same sport. Tennis legend Roger Federer has topped the list at $37.2million.

Virat Kohli is fast becoming India’s next milestone man after Sachin Tendulkar. With his 31st ODI ton, he went past Ricky Ponting and is now just behind Sachin Tendulkar, who has 49 ODI centuries.
