Prithvi Shaw Becomes Second Youngest Indian Test Centurion after Sachin Tendulkar
India vs West Indies, 1st Test Match: Mumbai batsman, Prithvi Shaw became the 15th Indian cricketer to score a century in his debut Test Match. The 18-year-old batsman reached the milestone during the opening day of the first Test against the Windies at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Rajkot. He also became the second youngest Indian to score a test century, after the Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar. At the age of 17 years and 107 days, Sachin scored his maiden Test century against England in 1990. Whereas Prithvi Shaw scored his maiden test century at the age of 18 years 329 days.

Prithvi Shaw, who opened the innings for India, took 99 balls to get to his maiden Test century. His innings was studded with 15 boundaries. With this century, he has etched his name alongside the legendary cricketers like Lala Amarnath, Mohammad Azharuddin, and Sourav Ganguly to score a Test century on debut. Apart from Amarnath, Azharuddin, and Ganguly, Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Suresh Raina, Virender Sehwag, Pravin Amre, Surinder Amarnath, Gundappa Viswanath, Hanukant Singh, Abbas Ali Baig, AG Kirpal Singh, and Deepak Shodhan are the other cricketers who started their Test career with a century in their first matches.
