Vikas Thakur is an Indian athlete who is trained in weightlifting competitions. He is best known for winning the silver medal in the 2014 Commonwealth Games in the men’s 85 kg weight class held in Glasgow, Scotland. In 2015 he won Commonwealth Championships, Pune under the category 85kg. In 2019 he first participated and won the silver medal in the 96 kg category held in Samoa. After winning the silver medal in the Commonwealth Games 2022, he became an internet sensation. Hundreds of fans and neighbours greeted Vikas Thakur with a floral welcome in his hometown.
