Chitra PU is an Indian track and field athlete from Kerala. Chitra has won numerous state, national and International School meet gold medals in middle and long distance track events. Chitra raised prominence after the Gold Medal won in 1500m at the 2017 Asian Athletics Championships in Bhuvaneshwar. She reached with the time of 4.17.92 seconds to steal the World Championships place and earning the tag “Queen of Asia in the Mile”. In 2016 Chitra has won gold medals in the 1500m, 3000m, 5000m race and 3km cross country in the 59th Indian National School Games, Ranchi, Jharkhand. Chitra was born on 9 June 1995, She is the daughter of Unnikrishnan and Vasantha Kumari, both agricultural laborers from Kerala. Chitra has completed her graduation and she did her schooling in Mundur Higher Secondary School in Palakkad. Chitra has been awarded by the Tata Nano Cars by the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council and the government of Kerala for her remarkable achievements in the school meets.
