Barkhad Abdi is a Somali-American actor and filmmaker. He made his debut as a Somali pirate in the biographical drama film Captian Phillips (2013). Barkhad has won a British Academy Film Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role for that film. Later his name was shortlisted for Academy Award, a Golden Globe Award, and a Screen Actors Guild Award.
Eye in the Sky, Good Time, The Pirates of Somalia, and Blade Runner 2049 are some of his best movies. He also appeared in the Season 2 of the Hulu horror series Castle Rock. At the age of 6, when the Somali Civil War broke out Barkhad and his family were off to Yemen.
