He announced his retirement from the international cricket with an immediate effect. AB de Villiers today (Wednesday/23rd May 2018) said, “I have decided to retire from all international cricket with an immediate effect”
He also added, “After playing 114 Test matches, 228 One day matches and 78 T20 internationals matches, It is time for others to take over. I have had my turn, and to be honest, I am tired“. AB de Villiers is one of few batsmen who has an average of 50 in both ODI and test matches. He has finished his career with an over 20,000 international runs in all three formats. There was a huge expectation from the South African team with ABD on their side for the upcoming World cup.

Everyone expected that he will at least be playing until the 2019 WC. But it was a shocking statement from him. There are many heartbroken tweets across the internet after knowing that ABD is retired from the international cricket. He also added, “This is a tough decision, I have thought long and hard about it ad I’d like to retire while still playing decent cricket. After the fantastic series wins against India and Australia, now feels like the right time to step aside.“
He also added, “I have no plans to play overseas, in fact, I hope I can continue to be available for the Titans in domestic cricket.
