Krishna McKenzie is a farmer, musician, educator and actor, who is the founder of Solitude Farm and Organic Kitchen. He was inspired by the vision and activities on the farm of Masonobu Fukoaka, a Japanese Zen Master and farmer. Krishna McKenzie is living in Auroville for 23 years, where he works in integrating permaculture, music, community and local food as a vision for social change.

Krishna McKenzie was born in England, United Kingdom. Krishna McKenzie family and graduation details will be updated soon. He did his schooling in Brockwood Park School, Bramdean, England. Krishna McKenzie wife name is Deepa and the couple has two children. In the year 1993, he shifted to Auroville after finished his studies in J. Krishnamurti school in the UK. While taking care of vegetables in the J. Krishnamurti school, he studied acting, music, biology, French and jazz guitar. While working as an apprentice for a year in Annapurna farm, he found an Aranya of 50-acre farming and reforestation project in Auroville. In the year 1996, he launched the Solitude Farm for creating the dynamic community around local food, permaculture and natural farming.

Krishna McKenzie’s work is termed “social agriculture“, which is a research of the relationship of local food to ecology, economy, culture and society. In the year 2006, he founded a band named “Emergence,” and the band has performed on Glastonbury festival, the UK, Maximum India Festival Washington D.C and Blue Frog, Mumbai all over India. Moreover, he will conduct the annual eco music festival titled Lively Up Your Earth (LUYE) at Solitude every year. Krishna McKenzie also acted in various theatre plays like Moliere, Shakespeare, Brecht, Pinter, Neil Simon and more from his young age. He is more interested in education, according to his view it is the key aspect of his work. He also shares his ideas through various social permaculture initiatives such as Community Supported Agriculture (CSA), permaculture and cooking workshops. As well as, he has also hosted a community and public space garden projects.
