“HIV Cases Will Rise” – Subramanian Swamy on Landmark 377 Verdict
Expressing frustration over Supreme Court’s judgment on decriminalizing homosexuality, BJP leader Subramanian Swamy said the decision is not final and it can be challenged. He said that it is a Western culture which has taken over the country. “It is the American game. Soon there will be gay bars here, where homosexuals can go. HIV will spread,” he added.
The Supreme Court refused to strike down that part of Section 377 IPC which made sex with animals a crime. Does this interfere with fundamental rights too?

Further, he stated that he has assessed the consequences of legalizing homosexuality and he hopes that the next government will move a 7-judge bench to set aside this 5-judge bench order. On July 17, the apex court scrapped the Section 377, a rule that was laid by the British over 150 years ago and approved the homosexuality in India. The LGBT community (Initialism that stands for Lesb*an, gay, bisexual, and transgender) across the country was into raptures throughout the day celebrating the historical judgment.
