Gukesh D alias Gukesh Dommaraju is an Indian chess player prodigy. He is well known as the third youngest player in history to achieve the title of Grandmaster. Gukesh almost beat the Serey Karjakin record as the youngest Grandmaster, but he missed the record by 17 days. He won five gold medals in the Asian Youth Chess Championships.
Gukesh dethroned his mentor Grandmaster Viswanathan Anand as India’s top-ranked chess player in the live world ranking. He defeated Mistradin Iskandarov in the second round of the FIDE World Cup which secured him the 9th position in the classic open category. He has a live rating of 2755.9 on the contrary Anand has a rating of 2754.0. Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin congratulated Gukesh for entering the top 10 of the world’s FIDE ranking for the first time. He also mentioned that Gukesh’s victory is a proud moment for Tamil Nadu.
