The young researcher’s brother Adithya Thackeray serves as the president of Yuva Sena, the youth wing Shiv Sena.

• In 2015, Uddhav Thackeray’s son discovered a new snake species in Maharashtra and named it Thackeray’s cat snake.
• Being a part of a political family, an allegation was made on Tejas, but in October 2019, his father Uddhav clarified that he is not going to be a part of politics.
• In May 2019, Tejas and his co-researchers went to Tamil Nadu where they discovered a new lizard species and they named as Thackeray’s dwarf gecko. Before this notable discovery, that team also discovered new crab species and they named it as Sahyadriana thackerayi.
