- Arrest: In October 2021, some members of Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam filed a complaint against him. Chennai Police arrested Maindhan as he spreading false information against activist Periyar.
- Lots of Tamil nationalists including Pari Saalan conveyed their condemn against the arrest of Maindhan. Paari says, Maindhan did not spread any false information against Periyar. He considers that arrest as anti speech-freedom.
