Purvi Modi is a sister of Fugitive Indian businessman Nirav Modi and niece of Mehul Choksi. Initially, Purvi and her husband Mainak Mehta charged for a PNB fraud case with Nirav Modi. In January 2021, she was pardoned by a special PMLA court to disclose full details and true statements in the Nirav Modi case. On 24 June 2021, she informed the Enforcement Directorate of India that one account was opened in her name in London and funds that didn’t belong to her. As part of the pardon, Purvi remitted an amount of $23,16,889 (Rs 17.25 crore approximately) from the London bank account to the E.D Government of India.
