Teetar Bird is one of the beautiful creatures of nature. South Asia is the motherland of these birds. They mainly prefer to live in farmland and shrubs. This bird has three colours on its surface which are black, brown and white. Teetar slightly looks like poultry. Humans are one of the important enemies for these birds as Teetars are killed for meat.

Unfortunately, bird scientists considered these birds as quickly exist-able species. Government of India came forward to save this species by banning it’s hunting. Another name of Teetar is Grey francolin and Grey Partridge. Ornithologists classified these birds into three species which are North Indian grey francolin, Baluchistan grey francolin and Nominate.

Interesting facts about Teetar Bird

Neltlings: They will not build their nests on trees rather they build it on the ground, rocks and walls. After laying the eggs on the nest the baby Teetar needs to stay inside the egg for a minimum 13 days and maximum 20 days.
Behaviour: Unlike human-friendly Pigeons, these birds expose fear when they see humans.
Lifespan: Teetar can only live for 8 years from their birth.
Size: Most of the adult Male Teetar birds are larger in size than female birds. The maximum growth of males is 34 cm and female is 30 cm.
Weight: Like size, the average weight of adult females is also lower than adult males. The weight of male does not increase more than 340 grams and female weigh not more than 310 grams.
Food: Seeds and insects are the important food source for this cute species.
Sound: Teetars yell on 5:30 am every day.
Price: The price of Teetars ranges from 2200 to 7800 INR.
Flying Capacity: Like poultry, these birds also cannot fly at a very high distance they run at a good speed.
