Tamil Nadu gears up for second edition of Global Investors Meet

Tamil Nadu is all set to host its second edition of Global Investors Meet (GIM) today. The event is to woo industrialists and encourage them to invest in Tamil Nadu. This will be the first major event for the Edappadi K. Palaniswami government. Global Investors Meet was the pet project of the late Chief Minister Jayalalithaa. During the first edition of the GIM which was held in 2015, the State managed to attract investments to the tune of ₹2.42 lakh crore. According to sources, the terms of MoUs and investment this GIM will be bigger than last time.

The two-day event that will start on January 23 and will see participation from countries like Australia, Canada, the U.K., Korea, Taiwan, Japan, and France. A 45-member U.K. business delegation will also take part in this GIM.

The Global Investors Meet has outlined 12 focus areas for this summit 2019: Aerospace & Defence, Skill Development, Agro & Food Processing, Automobiles & Auto Components, Chemicals & Petrochemicals, Infrastructure, Electronics & Hardware, Heavy Engineering, IT/ ITeS, Pharmaceuticals & Biotechnology, Renewable Energy, and Textiles & Apparels.
