Tamil Nadu Digital Media Association Protest: The sharing of Cauvery River Water has been the point of contention between the two states of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. Since last week, protests, fasts, and demonstration are being held in the state against the Centre’s failure to set up the CMB. Also, The Opposition party Dmk and other parties sponsored bandh in Tamil Nadu alleging that the ruling party in Tamil Nadu has failed to exert pressure on the union government to constitute the Cauvery Management Board (CMB).

Meanwhile, a group of Tamil Nadu Digital Media Association, led by Smile Settai RJ Vigneshkanth, Parithabangal Fame Gopi & Sudhakar, ‘Pacha Sattai’ Ilamaran, Prasanth Rangaswamy have organised a protest against the Union government’s failure to set the Cauvery Management Board and Cauvery Water Regulatory Committee (CWRC). They also took a dig apparently at the ruling AIADMK over the issue of the expansion of a copper smelter plant in Tuticorin, saying the government was not responding to the protests by locals. A leading copper producer, Sterlite Copper represents the copper unit of Vedanta Limited, which operates a 400,000 tonnes per annum plant here. The unit has been since closed for a fortnight from March 29 for taking up maintenance work.
