Sunitha Krishnan is the Indian social activist who is a chief functionary and she the co-founder of Prajwala, which is the non-governmental organization for rescuing the people of rehabilitates and reintegrates sex-trafficked victims into society. Sunitha Krishnan is now working in the area of anti-human trafficking and social policy. From her organization Prajwala offer shelter for the rescued women and children with that, here they set up one of the largest rehabilitation homes in the country. She got more awards for her social activities like India’s fourth highest civilian award the Padma Shri in 2016. Sunitha Krishnan Early Life & Career
Sunitha Krishnan was born in 1972 at Kerela. She born to Palakkad Malayal parents her father Raju Krishnan and her mother Nalini Krishnan. She traveled to most of the countries in her early days with her father who worked with the Department of Survey which makes maps for the whole country. She did her schooling in Central Government Schools in Bangalore and Bhutan. Then she did her graduation in MSW (medical & psychiatric) at St. Joseph’s College in Bangalore, Krishnan, Roshni Nilaya, Mangalore.
Sunitha Krishnan has confirmed her passion for social work at the age of 8, with that she started to teach dance to the mentally challenged children. Then at the age of 12, she was running a school in the slums for the underprivileged children. Then in the age of 15 at the time she works on a neo-literacy campaign which is conducted for Dalit community, she was gang-raped by eight men. It is the main reason or the incident that impetus or what she does today.
