Shalmali Kholgade Details

Shalmali Kholgade was born on 2 January 1990, in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. Shalmali Kholgade family is now residing in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. Her mother name is Uma Kholgade who is an Indian classical singer and theatre personality. and her father name will be updated soon. She did her schooling in Raja Bijay Singh High School, Murshidabad and she did her graduation in St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai, Maharashtra. Shalmali Kholgade started her singing career at the age of 16 and she started learning music at the age of 8. Then she continued learning music education under Shubhada Paradkar and also studied in Los Angeles College of Music. Moreover, she offered her tribute to one of her favourite singers Amy Winehouse last year at Blue Frog, Mumbai. Then she has been singing professionally in Mumbai for several years, with that, she also worked as a backing vocalist for Ali Zafar’s songs.

Shalmali Kholgade made her debut song “Pareshaan” for the movie Ishaqzaade, where she earned a wide success and several awards that include Filmfare Award for the Best Female Playback singer. Then in the following years, she has sung various songs, with that, she also nominated for more awards as well. Then she has sung songs in various languages like Hindi, Marathi, Bengali, Telugu and Tamil. Moreover, she received critical acclaim for her singing style the songs that include  “Aga Bai” from Aiyyaa (2012), “Daaru Desi” from Cocktail (2012), “Lat Lag Gayee” from Race 2 (2013), “Chingam Chabake” from Gori Tere Pyaar Mein (2013), “Shanivaar Raati” and “Besharmi Ki Height”. She has sung her first regional song “Raja Raja” in the year 2013 which is a Tamil song Naan Rajavaga Pogiren. Then the song Oday Oday from the movie “Raja Rani” which has reached a great success in the Southern part of India, and the song made her an accomplished singer in the South Indian film Industry. Shalmali Kholgade started her acting career in the year 2009, she made her debut movie Tu Maza Jee it is an East Indian Konkani-Marathi film which is directed by Ranjan Singh and the movie is released on Maharashtra Day.
