Rasika Shekar is an Indo-American flautist and a singer. She plays bansuri and Indian bamboo flute. She made her Bollywood debut as a singer in the year 2012. Her debut song was under the composition of Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy for the movie Dekh Indian Circus. She is both a playback singer and a live performer. Rasika Shekar Details

Rasika was born on April 4, 1989. She was born in Dubai and brought up in New Jersey, USA. She is a trained Carnatic and Hindustani classical singer. Rasika got trained in Carnatic vocals through her aunt Vaishali Shankar. Her grandmother Gowri Ramakrishnan taught her Violin. She started playing Carnatic music from the age of 14. Rasika completed her bachelor’s degree from Rutgers University, New Jersey. After completing her graduation, She joined Berklee College of Music where she learnt jazz and flamenco music. She obtained her master’s degree in Performance there.

She made her debut as a playback singer through the song “Lambuda Kakka” from the movie “Dekh Indian Circus” composed by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy. She has also sung in movies like 2 States, Kill Dil, Katti Batti, Love Games. Apart from singing, She has been performing Carnatic flute concerts from a young age. She has performed in United States, Dubai, India, Mauritius, Spain and Singapore. She gained popularity through a video in which she was performing a song along with Shankar Mahadevan.
