Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Romil Baaniya said the case was registered under sections 376 (rape), 377 (unnatural sex) and 354 (molestation) of the IPC, a few days after the 25-year-old woman filed a complaint against the founder of the Delhi-based Shree Shanidham Trust and his associates. Baaniya also added,
“The accused shall be questioned in connection with the case soon, and further investigation will proceed accordingly,”
The woman stated the role of two more male disciples in ashram who also raped her. The woman claimed that she was sexually abused in Daati Maharaj’s Delhi and Rajasthan ashram on many occasions.
