Las Vegas is America’s number one hub for gambling and glamour. Dubbed the City of Sin, visitors will find some of the most extravagant casinos, high-stakes games, and high-quality hotels. It is no wonder then that Las Vegas became one of the biggest tourist attractions in the United States of America.
But, the fascination that we have with Sin City does not just end at tourism. Films, television shows, and a ton of media, in general, have been set in Las Vegas. So, in this article, we would like to rank a few of the best TV shows set in Las Vegas.
Las Vegas (2003 – 2008)
We would be remised if we didn’t start this list off with the show that bears the city’s name. Las Vegas centers on a fictional hotel and casino, the Montecito. The star of the show is Ed Deline (James Caan) and Danny McCoy (Josh Duhamel). The two are responsible for hotel security. Their job is to ensure that the residents and patrons of the hotel and casino are safe and secure, as well as to ensure that the gamblers don’t try to gain the system.
Nowadays, many might not be aware of tricks like card counting, largely thanks to online casinos. Anyone interested in fair gambling games, where card counting is made a lot harder, will be pleasantly surprised by the live casino options featured on numerous gambling websites.
As for the show, it brings elements of crime drama, romance, and comedy to create a truly wonderful experience for the audience. It ran for 5 seasons on NBC and is certainly one of the better shows set in Sin City.
High Card (2023 – )
We might be cheating a bit here. The High Card anime is set in a fantasy world heavily inspired by Las Vegas and Monte Carlo. However, anyone who has ever been to Vegas will certainly find the setting familiar.
The story centers on Finn, a pickpocket trying to make enough money to save the orphanage where he grew up. After a casino game goes wrong, Finn becomes embroiled in a world of magic, crime, and assassination.
At only three episodes, there isn’t much to say about High Card yet. Except that, so far, it has set up an interesting world, which leaves fans wanting more. Where the story goes remains to be seen.
CSI: Crime Scene Investigation (2000 – 2015)
There is just something about crime shows set in Vegas. Perhaps “Sin” City lends itself to a show about crime. After all, the city’s history is intricately linked to the mafia. It is even the home to the Mafia Museum.
As the name suggests, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation follows an elite team of forensic experts as they attempt to solve the biggest crimes that Las Vegas throws at them. With a star-studded cast featuring Laurence Fishburne, Ted Danson, and William Peterson, it is no surprise that CSI ran for as long as it did. The show is still remembered as one of the best crime dramas that TV has to offer.
