The fifth edition of the Pro Kabaddi League 2017 kick starts from July 28 and the final to be played on October 28. PKL consist of Four new teams that have been introduced for season 5 thus making it a league of 12 teams from 11 states battling over 130 matches. This fifth edition is assumed to be the biggest League in the Indian history of Sport. The franchises contributed Rs 46.99 crores over 227 players. The auctions held at New Delhi in May that the league going to face over 400 players in the pool. PKL season 4 consisted only eight teams last year, and for this season, new teams are added to a roaster – Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Gujarat. The new team in the league acquires several top players with a high bid, Uttar Pradesh took Nitin Tomar for Rs.93 Lakhs, and he is the costliest player for a Category A in the history of Pro Kabaddi League.

Dabang Delhi acquired Suraj Desaifor for Rs 52.5 lakhs, and he is the highest bid for a Category B player in the history of the Pro Kabaddi League. Bengal Warriors recalled South Korea’s Jang Kun Lee for Rs 80.3 lakh, and now he is the most expensive overseas player. Season 5 certainly has set a new level of tough competition, as there are now 12 teams in the league looking to secure the coveted title that they Battle for.
