Poonam Mahajan aks Poonam Vajendla Rao is an Indian Politician of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). She was elected as the member of Parliament from Mumbai North Central. She was appointed as the president of the Bhartiya Janta Party Yuva Morcha BJYM on December 2016. BJYM is the youth wing of BJP. Poonam Mahajan is also the president of Basketball Federation of India and she is the first female to hold this position. Poonam Mahajan Details

Poonam Mahajan was born on 9 December 1980. She was born and brought up in Mumbai, Maharastra. Poonam’s father’s name is Pramod Mahajan and her mother’s name is Rekha Mahajan. Her father was an earlier leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party. Poonam joined BJP as a member after her father’s demise. Now, She is the National Secretary of the party. Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha is the youth wing of the parent party. The BJYM drafts new leaders every 3 to 5 years term.

She was appointed as the National Vice President of the BJYM wing in August 2010. Poonam Mahajan contested in the 2014 Indian General Election from Mumbai North Central. She won the election by a big margin of 1.86 lakh votes. It was one of the biggest upsets in the Lok Shaba election in the Maharastra state. In the election, she defeated the nearest rival and the two times MP Priya Dutt of the Congress. She also completed a leadership course from Georgetown University in 2015.
