Poonam Bajwa was born on 5 April 1989 in Mumbai. Poonam Bajwa family her is Amarjith Singh who was a naval officer and her mother Deepika Singh is a housewife. She has a younger sister named Daya. In 2005 Poonam Bajwa was crowned as Miss Pune, later she moved to modeling in part-time at the time of her schooling. She went for the ramp in Hyderabad there the director of Mudati noticed and approached her for his film. She agreed and simultaneously she did her degree in Literature from SIMC, Pune.

She started her acting career in the year 2005 and her debut movie is Modati Cinema which is a Telugu movie, after that movie she featured in more Telugu movies which include Boss opposite Nagarjuna and Bhaskar’s Parugu. Her debut Tamil movie is Seval, which is directed by Hari in the year 2008 which is a masala movie. The subsequently she appeared in the movies like Thenavattu and Kacheri Arambam along with Jeeva in both movies. Then she traveled with a new director Praveen Tribiyani, with that she also featured with megastar Mammootty and Mohanlal. She exposed her talent by her acting in various movies in different languages like Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, and Kanada.
