Pooja Kumar is an American actress well known for her work in English, Tamil, Hindi, and Telugu films. She has participated in Miss India USA and crowned the title in 1995. She started her global career as an American actress, producer, and model. The Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan introduced her to Priyadarshan and they gave her the opportunity to host the International Miss World Competition which was broadcast live in over 50 countries. Pooja Kumar was born on 4 February 1977 in St. Louis, Missouri, USA. She was born into a Mathur family where her father is from Dehradun and her mother is from Lucknow. She was graduate in political science and finance from Washington University. Pooja is also trained in the Bharatanatyam, Kuchipudi, and Kathak forms of Indian classical dance. She had participated and won the title of Miss India USA in 1995.

She made her acting debut in 1997 with the Tamil film Kadhal Rojavae alongside George Vishnu. Her stint as an actress in the Tamil film industry went unnoticed. Today, Pooja has acted in major Hollywood films, including Man on a Ledge (2012), and the IFC film, Bollywood Hero (2009) where she starred opposite SNL star, Chris Kattan.

In 2008, she hosted a late-night live quiz show Jaago Aur Jeeto on Zee TV in India. She appeared in the musical comedy miniseries Bollywood Hero on the IFC in the same year. She starred opposite Saturday Night Live comedian Chris Kattan in the three-part series. In the late 2000s, she appeared in the Pakistani drama serial Ishq Junoon Deewangi on Hum TV. She came to limelight after a long gap in Kollywood industry from the film Viswaroopam in which she paired with Veteran actor Kamal Hassan. Her performance was appreciated by the audience and critics.
