Padmavati Controversy: Kamal Haasan Raises His Voice For Deepika Padukone

Padmavati Controversy: In an emotional new tweet, Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan has registered his support for Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone who plays the 13 century Queen Padmavati in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s upcoming new film which titled as Padmavati. He said that the Deepika Padukone’s head must be respected more than her body.

According to report, members of the Karni Sena had announced a bounty for anyone who beheads Deepika Padukone and director Sanjay Leela Bhansali. In a recent tweet, Kamal has addressed this, especially in the context of Deepika

“I want Ms.Deepika’s head.. saved. Respect it more than her body.Even more her freedom. Do not deny her that.Many communities have opposed my films. Extremism in any debate is deplorable. Wake up cerebral India.Time to think. We’ve said enough. Listen, Ma Bharat”

Padmavati Controversy: Kamal Haasan Voices his support for Deepika Padukone

According to latest reports, the release of the film had been delayed to a later date and the film will not be hitting theatres on December 1. The film has already been banned in Jammu and Kashmir, Madhya Pradesh, and Punjab.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had also tweeted in favour of the film’s release by saying,

“The #Padmavati controversy is not only unfortunate but also a calculated plan of a political party to destroy the freedom to express ourselves. We condemn this super emergency. All in the film industry must come together and protest in one voice.”
