Narendra Modi Meets Manohar Parrikar As Hospital Rubbishes Rumours About His Health

Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, who is admitted in Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital for treatment of “mild pancreatitis.” According to the report, PM Modi, who was in Mumbai to inaugurate the Global Investors’ Summit, took time off his scheduled engagements to meet Parrikar and asked after his health. Mr. Parrikar was earlier the defense minister in PM Modi’s Cabinet.
The Goa Chief Minister was admitted in the Mumbai hospital on February 15 after suffering a bout of food poisoning. Hospital authorities clarified on Sunday that the Chief Minister is “responding well to treatment.” Hospital authorities stated,
“It has been brought to our notice, (that) various malicious and misleading reports/rumors are floating around in the electronic/print media with regards to his health,”

The sources said that Parrikar is possible to be present for the Budget Session that begins today, and his government is likely to wrap up the proceedings earlier than scheduled.
A senior minister from the BJP-led coalition government in Goa said there were chances that the Assembly Session, which scheduled for today may be postponed to Thursday. He said
“Though the final decision will be made after the meeting of the business advisory committee, there are chances that a vote on the account may be approved. The budgetary demands will be passed in the Monsoon Session. This seems to be the constitutional way out,”
Governor Mridula Sinha will address the Goa legislature, and Deputy speaker Michael Lobo stated,
“We will curtail the Session to three days, considering the ill health of the Chief Minister. The Budget would be tabled on February 20, instead of February 21, and the Vote on Account would be passed on the last day of the session – February 21.”
