Naba Kishore Das was the former health and family welfare minister of the Odisha Government. He was shot dead on Sunday evening (January 29, 2023). The shooter was identified as assistant Sub-Inspector Gopal Das. Naba was hit by two rounds of bullets and was rushed to the Jharsuguda District Headquarters Hospital. Despite the doctor’s efforts, he was declared dead around 8 pm.
The shooter’s (Gopal Das) wife Jayanti said that her husband is suffering from a mental disorder for the past few years. She also confirmed that she is not aware of any personal enmity between Gopal and the minister (Naba Kishore Das).
