MHA Strengthens PM Modi’s Security in Wake of Threat | New Guidelines to State Government
The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has strengthened the security to Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi to protect him from CPI-M Maoists and Pakistan-backed terror groups. According to the reports, the Home Ministry has also issued new guidelines to the state governments to protect the Prime Minister. As per guidelines, “Without any security clearance, Ministers and senior officials will not be allowed to come close to the Prime Minister.”
Earlier, Rajnath Singh, Minister of Home Affairs of India had stated that Prime Minister’s security would be stepped up during a meeting held at his residence earlier in June. He also set up a committee to review the security of PM Modi, who has been provided with a multi-layered and impregnable Z+ plus security cover.
While probing the journalist-activist Gauri Lankesh murder, the Special Investigation Team of the Pune Police had seized some objectionable documents, which talked about targeting PM Modi. The documents have also suggested that Prime Minister Modi should be targeted during his road shows. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s roadshows had been a major crowd puller for Bharatiya Janata Party and it helped the party in establishing a direct connection with voters during crucial polls. Restrictions on Narendra Modi’s roadshows may have some bearing on the saffron party as 2019 Lok Sabha polls are just a few months away.
