MakeMyTrip was founded by Deep Kalra who studied in Indian Institute of Management. MakeMyTrip was initially launched in the US market to guide oversea community for the US to India Travel needs. On September 2005, MakeMyTrip started its service in India offering online flight ticket booking service. Later the company started to concentrate on the fields on non-online services like hotel bookings and holiday packages. On August 13, 2010, MakeMyTrip was listed on NASDAQ and it went public, making a debut on the US Market.

In the year 2011, MakeMyTrip created several travel-related Mobile applications for all types of smartphones. After 2011, MakeMyTrip made many acquisitions on major travel-related applications. In November 2015, MakeMyTrip launched a new offering named as “Value+” for the quality budget hotels category. In 2016, Chinese travel booking giant “Ctrip” had agreed to invest 180 Million Dollars on MakeMyTrip.
