Shyam with the stage name Maitreya is an Indian film actor. In 2019, he has signed to act in the Kannada remake of the of Mari Selvaraj’s Pariyerum Perumal, one of the crtically acclaimed kollywood movie. Maitreya has signed for three upcoming projects in Tamil, a mystery thriller by director Vivek, whose film Narai is yet to be released in May; a film with director GNR Kumaravel of Haridas fame; and a political thriller by P Vasu’s assistant Prabhakaran.

Maitreya alleged that Mysskin collected 1 crore rupees in advance to direct him in the film Psycho after completing Vishal’s Thupparivaalan. But later Mysskin took of the movie with Udhayanidhi Stalin and also did not refund the money. On hearing the verdict the Madras High Court stalled the shooting of the movie Psycho.
Maitreya married Aparna Guhan after a love life of seven years. She is the granddaughter of AVM production’s M Saravanan and daughter of MS Guhan.
