Maidaan is a Hindi sports-based film written and directed by Amit Ravindernath Sharma of Badhaai Ho fame. Produced by Boney Kapoor, Akash Chawla and Arunava Joy Sengupt under Zee Studios presentation, the movie stars Ajay Devgn, Keerthy Suresh in the lead roles. Maidaan tells the story of the Golden Era Of Indian Football. Screenplay and dialogue by Saiwyn Quadras and Ritesh Shaw. It is said to be a biopic on football coach Syed Abdul Rahim.

The Indian football team won a Gold at the 1962 Asian Games in Jakarta and reached the semi-finals of the 1956 Melbourne Olympics when Syed was the coach. South Indian actress Keerthy Suresh makes her debut in Bollywood and will portray the role of Ajay’s wife in the film. The film will hit screens in 2020.
