M. M. Keeravani was born on 4 July 1961 in Kovvur, West Godavari district, Andhra Pradesh. M. M. Keeravani family is now residing in Hyderabad, Telangana, India. His father name is Koduri Siva Shakti Dutta and his mother name will be updated soon. He has two brothers named Kalyani Malik who is a music director and singer and another brother named Shivasri Kanchi. Moreover, he is the cousin of director S. S. Rajamouli and music director, singer M. M. Srilekha. Then his nephew is Telugu and Bollywood film screenwriter and director K. V. Vijayendra Prasad. M. M. Keeravani wife name is M. M. Srivalli who is a line producer in films. This couple has a son named Kaala Bhairava, who is also a singer and he has sung for his father’s numerous compositions.

M. M. Keeravani started his music career as an assistant music director with the noted composer K. Chakravarthy in the year 1987. He worked for the movies like Collectorgari Abbayi and Bharathamlo Arjunudu in the late 1980s. He made his first breakthrough as an independent musician came with his movie Kalki in the year 1990, but the movie was not released. Then in the same year, he worked in the movie Manasu Mamatha which is directed by Mouli and it bought him into the limelight and it was considered as his first release movie. The movie Kshana Kshanam was made him establish himself as a music director and the movie was directed by Ram Gopal Varma. After this movie he flooded across the South Indian film industries as well as in the Hindi film was Criminal. Then for his talent in the year 1997, he won the National Film Award for Best Music Direction for the Telugu movie Annamayya. Moreover, he won the 8 Filmfare Awards, eleven State Nandi Awards and a Tamil Nadu State Film Award.
