Where Is The Water Metro Service Started In Kerala?
Water metro service is started in Kochi. The commutation route is started operating from Vyttila-Kakkanad terminals and High Court -Vypin terminals. So the maximum traveling time will be 20-25 minutes for both destinations.
When Did The Kochi Metro Service Start?
The flag-off happened on April 25, 2023. The commutation started on April 26, 2023, from 7 am to 8 pm. This timing would be a great help to the working people and students. And this will decrease the rush in conventional transportation facilities.
How Far Is The Kochi Metro?

How To Book a Ticket For Kochi Water Metro Journey?
You can get tickets from the terminals as well as through a mobile app called Kochi1.
- Install the Kochi1 mobile app from Play Store, and register your details, such as Name, Mobile number, and email id.
- Complete the OTP verification.
- After that, you have to create an MPIN for quick login next time.
- After creating the MPIN, you will be redirected to the Home page.
- On the Home page, at the bottom of the screen, there is an option called Book Ticket.
- Click on Book ticket, and you have to select Water Metro on the next screen.
- Now enter the Station (From) and Destination (To).
- Make the payment through wallets or net banking.
- All set, you will get a QR Code with ticket details on your mobile itself.

Kakkanad -Vytilla route
The bus travel will take up to 45 to 60 minutes, and ticket price ranges from 18-25 rupees. but in the Water Metro, it will take 25 mins.
High court-Vypin route
In Bus it will take 30 minutes to reach the destination by bus, and in Water Metro, one can reach within 20 minutes.

Does Water Metro Have Washrooms?
The answer is No. As it is a quick journey and the maximum travel time is 25 minutes, the washroom facility is not needed.
Can You Carry Alcohol In Water Metro?
No. You should not take alcohol or any inflammable materials on public transportation. Kochi Water Metro department also doesn’t allow such practices.
Is Kochi Water Metro a Driverless service?
Water Metro comes with driverless technology, but it will be implemented gradually. As of now, it will be driven by trained loco pilots. The government also has plans for involving Kudumbashree workers and people from the transgender community, and that is revolutionary.
Is Water Metro Service Available For 24 hours?
No. This is not a 24-hours service. The time will be from 7 am to 8 pm. There are no plans to operate Water Metro 24 hours from the concerned department.

Who Built The Kochi Water Metro Project?
The entire metro is manufactured by Cochin Shipyard Limited. This visionary project is funded by the Government of Kerala and a German funding agency called ‘Kreditanstalt fur Wiederaufbau,’ which includes hybrid boats, batteries, and inclusivity features for specially-abled people. The overall budget is reported as 1,137 crore.
