Karthik Raja Early Life and Career

Karthik Raja was born on 29 June 1973 in Tamil Nadu, India. Karthik Raja family is now residing in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. His father name is Ilaiyaraaja who is the Maestro in the music of Tamil film industry and his mother name is Jeeva Rajayya. He has two siblings a sister named Bhavatharini and a brother named Yuvan Shankar Raja. He did his schooling in St. Bede’s School and Boston Matriculation higher secondary school, Chennai and he did his graduation in Loyola College, Chennai. Karthik Raja wife name is Raja Rajeswari they both got married on 8 June 2000 at Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh, India. As he is born and brought up by the musical family he exposed himself to various kinds of music in his early age. Moreover, he has done his formal training in western classical music from the Trinity School of Music, especially for Piano.

He also had a training in Carnatic music from T. V. Gopalakrishnan as well as from the Malayalam composer V. Dakshinamoorthy. In his childhood, he used to accompany his father to the recording studio and at the age of 13, he played a keyboard for the song Kannukkum for the movie Ninaikka Therinda Manam in 1987. Then he played keyboard for the soundtracks to the movies Nayakan. Later he composed his first song “Pandianin Rajiyathil” for the movie Pandiyan in 1992 and “Ninaikindra” for the movie Athma in 1993. He made his debut movie Alexander as a full-fledged composer in the year 1996 and he also worked in the movies like Ullaasam, Naam Iruvar Nammaku Iruvar, Kadhala Kadhala and Dumm Dumm Dumm and more. He made his debut Hindi movie Grahan which won him the R.D. Burman award for the best new talent.
