- She was brought up in Thiruvananthapuram, where she was introduced to the Abhinaya Theatre Research Centre, which is a common platform for theatre practitioners, after that, she moved to Thrissur and got enrolled in the theatre arts program at the Thrissur Drama School, between 2005 and 2007.
- Kani Kusruti is now living in Mumbai along with her husband Anand Gandhi who is a filmmaker and science communicator. Moreover, she identifies herself as an atheist and a rationalist.
