Heena Sidhu is an Indian Sports Shooter, who represents India in International shooting games. She first appeared in the ISSF World Cup, Beijing in 2009 and won the Silver medal. In the 2018 Commonwealth Games, she won the Silver medal in women’s 10-metre air pistol event and she won the gold medal in women’s 25-metre air pistol event. Heena Sidhu Early Life and Career
Heena Sidhu was born on 29 August 1989 in Ludhiana, Punjab, India. Heena Sidhu family is now residing in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. Her father name is Rajbir Sidhu who was a national sports shooter and her mother name is Rominder Kaur Sidhu. She has a brother who is a shooter in the 10-metre air pistol event and her uncle is a gunsmith and gun customizer. She did her schooling in Yadavindra Public School, Patiala and she did her graduation in Gian Sagar Dental College, Jhansla, Punjab. Heena Sidhu husband name is Ronak Pandit who is also a pistol shooter and he is also the coach for her, they both got married on 7 February 2013. She started her shooting career in the year 2006, and she participated in the national junior and senior teams. She is also the member of Patiala Club. She started shooting as an aid for her admission into dental school.
In the year 2009, she won the Silver medal in the ISSF World Cup in Beijing and she won the first place in the women’s 10 m air pistol event on a national championship in Kerala. Along with Annu Raj Singh and Sonia Rai, she won the silver medal in the Women’s 10 m air pistol team event on 2010 Asian Games in Guangzhou, China. On the 2010 Commonwealth Games, Sidhu and Singh won the gold medal in women’s pairs 10-metre air pistol and in the single event, she won the silver medal. In the 2012 Summer Olympics held at London, she competed in the women’s 10-metre air pistol event but she finished 12th in the qualification round.
Moreover, she was a part of the London Olympic Games film entitled that titled First: The Story of the London 2012 Olympic Games. In 2013, she won the gold medal at the ISSF World Cup Finals in Munich, Germany by defeating the world champion Zorana Arunovic of Serbia and Olena Kostevych of Ukraine with 203.8 points. In the 2017 Commonwealth shooting championships in Brisbane, she won the gold medal in women’s 10-metre air pistol event. In the year 2018, she won the silver medal in Commonwealth Games, in 10-metre air pistol event with that, she won the gold medal in women’s 25-metre air pistol event. On 28 August 2014, Sidhu has conferred the Arjuna Award.
